Quality management principle no. 4: Process approach

The organization achieves its objectives more effectively and efficiently if all activities are understood as interrelated processes whose individual steps have to be coordinated with each other. Based on the process approach, every organization needs to define its processes including their inputs and outputs and also determine procedures and responsibilities. The process approach suppresses individual or departmental interests while putting a focus on the overall outcome. Unnecessary activities or tasks that do not add value should be avoided.
